Join or Contribute to the work of the RMLA
The RMLA needs more than anything people who want to bring about change and join our revolutionary struggle. The RMLA is at the first stage of its Five-Stage plan, so currently, support and contribution can take the form of joining the RMLA or working on the Educational program.
To Join the RMLA, please contact us via email at mayionarevolution@gmail.com or on Instagram (@mayionarevolution) and one of our members will follow up with the training and revolutionary political education. After the political education and training, the potential member becomes a member of the RMLA with the title “Supporter of the RMLA”(SR) which is the last stage before becoming an active member of the RMLA (“Warrior of the People”). There are no strings attached to this position but the commitment to the revolutionary struggles and goals of the RMLA. As a member, the individual will be able to contribute more significantly to the organization, for example, by brainstorming on the strategies of the RMLA or future projects (e.g. the podcast series project, teach-in modules, connecting with organizations like the A-APRP, African Stream, etc.). Ways to Contribute to the RMLA Educational Progam on the website:
1. Writing or sharing texts (essays, articles, or pamphlets) that align with the RMLA's objective to decolonize the mind of Afro people and develop a revolutionary pan-African consciousness. All the texts are meant to be down to earth and understandable by any regular Afro person. Here is the list and short description of the topics/types of texts that the RMLA is looking for:
a. Dig In Babylon: A collection of essays and articles that goes in-depth about some key elements of the Imperialist/capitalist system (history, structures, contradictions, tactics, etc.). Some of these texts should be more rigorous in their use of external sources and the overall structure of the argument. They are meant to be intellectually confrontational but also convincing and accessible. Occasionally they can connect to the work of the revolutionary organization, but the focus should be to inform and educate any person (Afro or not) who wants to understand this Imperialist/capitalist system (whether or not they are interested in any organization). E.g. “An Understanding of Settler Colonialism” or “Why there has not been any revolution in the DR Congo in the 21st century” published on the website.
b. Artistic History: A collection of essays and pamphlets primarily addressed to Afro people because it focuses on the history (distant or near) of the Alkebulan and that of Afro people. These texts are meant to have an artistic style (e.g. they can be in the format of storytelling or tales). This choice is deliberate as it aims to reproduce the artistic power of African story-telling and oral history. While they should not be rigorous (in an academic sense), they should be very factual and should draw from the lived experiences of Afro people. E.g. “On the Journey to Hope from Destruction” published on the website
c. Mobilization: A collection of essays and pamphlets calling People, all oppressed people, especially Afro people to get up and take arms to resist the Imperialist/Capitalist system. These texts aim to raise the consciousness of the people and to direct them to the revolutionary organization that is in formation and is ready to be the vanguard of the revolution. The other role of these texts will be to be confrontational and to challenge the status quo. E.g. “The field is on fire” published on the website.
d. Break Mental Slavery: A collection of essays, articles, and reflections addressed primarily to Afro people but also to any oppressed people. They aim to be confrontational and convincing. Indeed the RMLA believes that the decolonization of the mind is a crucial preliminary step to start the revolution because once the people are equipped with a revolutionary consciousness These texts are a mixture of rigorous and nuanced texts and simple reflections on lived experiences. E.g. “Why did I decide to change my preferred name” (to be published on the website)
e. In Solidarity: The RMLA is internationalist, intercommunal, and intersectional, hence it does understand the need to develop an analysis that bridges differences and that connects all the oppressed people in the world (oppressed by the Imperialist/Capitalist system). This collection of text should be a reflection of that approach. E.g. “Let’s talk about confrontation” (published on the website.)
f. RMLA ideology and analysis: These essays, pamphlets, and articles discuss the core ideas, beliefs, and approaches of the RMLA regarding their role as a revolutionary organization and their structure. These texts will be part of the “Official Document of the RMLA” which will contain in detail the objectives and the vision of the RMLA as well as its limitations. These texts will also discuss the analytical lenses that the RMLA uses to understand the current system and the revolutionary struggle. E.g. “For the revolution”, “The danger of Inertia” (to be published on the website)
2. Making Poetry and Art (music, slam, sketching, etc.) that goes in line with the objective of the RMLA to make a platform where Afro people can express themselves freely and explore the different components of their identities as they are on the revolutionary journey.
3. Editing and proofreading the different texts to be published on the website. The role of editing will also be to make sure the piece is put in the appropriate category and follows the style of the texts in the category.
4. Translating the texts published on the website. The RMLA aims to reach Afro people no matter their geographical region, but we also recognize that not all Afro people speak the same language. The translations needed are in French, English, Spanish, Haitian Kreyol, Swahili, German, Arabic, and Portuguese. These languages are chosen on the basis that they are the most prevalent among Afro people, but the RMLA will also work to translate its work into more Afro languages.
5. Maintaining and Promoting the Website and the Project. This will involve sharing updates on the website on social media (Instagram, Twitter, LinkedIn, etc.). Maintaining active and interactive social media accounts of the RMLA. When the podcast project is finalized and launched, this will also include other platforms (Podcast, YouTube, etc.)
6. Making graphic designs and posters for the website and for each text (essay, article, poem) that is published.
